What happens when disagreement about Israel and Palestine becomes a disagreement about who we are as a Jewish community?
Join us for a screening of “Scenes from the Divide,” a film that takes us inside the homes and conversations of New York Jews during the contentious campaign that led to Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor.
The film goes beyond one candidate or election. Through people with sharply different perspectives, it explores deeper questions about Jewish identity, Israel and Palestine, history, responsibility, belonging, and what is happening within Jewish communities like ours when these questions divide us.
As part of this event, we will take part in safe, structured conversations designed to help us listen to one another, reflect on what the film stirred in us, and better understand perspectives that may differ from our own.
The goal is not to debate the film or persuade one another. It is to create an opportunity to speak honestly, listen with curiosity, and practise staying connected even when important differences remain unresolved.
At a time when these issues continue to create hurt and tension within Jewish communities, we hope you’ll join us to watch, reflect, listen, and be heard.
